v8 clutch going in. does it ever end??
« on: December 19, 2009, 03:15:59 PM »

bought a flywheel and clutch package for the pinto and although i was told its standard 2.3 it ended up being 5.0 on the 2.3 crank pattern.... i wrestled with the thought of doing this for awhile and decided to go for it. so spec aluminum flywheel and spec 3+ clutch package is going in sometime this winter... bet it dont slip anymore!!!!

oh yeah, anyone have a v8 sfi bell they want to get rid of???

Yeah, but be sure its the right Lakewood bell. They make them for the mechanical clutdh linkage as well as the cable setup. They also make both bells for the T5 trans and the top loader and T10. wave

Hey Steve I know you have other things going on but I have something to add for you 5.0 swap parts. Do you see a part number on your bell? Mines a 15203. Thats the correct depth and is made as a replacement for the factory bell 79-93 bell. One huge thing I didn't have time to deal with is bell housing alignment and clutch fork adjustment. here's two links to parts I ordered for mine. I'd be willing to bet I had an issue related to not having the input centered with the crank. $40 for cheap insurance.

for mock up purposes i took a bare block and mounted the adapter and bellhousing,(stock bell)  and dropped it in... then i mounted up the t5 and put the tranny c-member in and it fits, although its extremely close up top.... i can massage it a little with a small sledge once i pull it back out but its gonna work... the exhaust will be the pain in the arse part.... very limited on how it will fit in the space left.. it will go between the bell(above the starter buldge)the firewall,(will need a little hammering there too) and the frame rail... im just gonna have to be very precise with how it goes in... but it will go!!! ill try to get pics later today...
